Villarrica Volcano, imposing and majestic, often dominates postcards of Pucón. But beyond its summit lies an adventure few know about: the Villarrica Traverse.
This multi-day trek immerses you in the deepest, most pristine corners of the Araucanía Region.

Technical Details of a Demanding Trek
The Villarrica Traverse is a highly complex trek, ideal for those with previous multi-day trekking experience. The mountain journey itself lasts three days, while the full trip, including lodging in Pucón, spans five days.
Intensity and Distance: The difficulty is rated as medium to high. The total distance on the trail is 43 kilometers. During the three days of hiking, you'll cover 18 km on day two, 17 km on day three, and 8 km on day four.
Elevation Gain: The elevation ranges from 800 to 1,500 meters above sea level. The terrain is varied, ascending and descending through valleys and volcano slopes, and passing by beautiful rivers and lagoons.
Heading #1: More Than a Trek: A Wellness Experience
The local guides from Distrito Sur take this journey a step further. In addition to the hike, this experience includes guided sessions of reflection, meditation, yoga, visualization, movement, and free-writing.
The goal is to disconnect from the outside world and connect with yourself as you venture into Villarrica National Park.
After the three-day traverse, the adventure doesn't end. Upon reaching Puesco, the route culminates with a relaxing visit to the Panki Hot Springs, where you can enjoy a barbecue and unwind before heading back to Pucón.

Heading #2: A Journey for the Soul
The Villarrica Traverse is not an easy trek. It requires good physical condition and the ability to carry your gear for several days. But every effort is worth it. Nights under a starry sky, far from light pollution, will leave you breathless.
Sunrise, with the first golden light bathing the peaks, is an unforgettable sight. This route is a reminder that the best experiences aren't always found on the most popular summits, but on the paths less traveled.
The Villarrica Traverse offers a profound connection with yourself and with the untamed spirit of the Araucanía.
